John is a member of the Institute of Directors and the Insurance Institute of Ireland. He holds a Life Assurance Association of Ireland (LIA) qualification and is a Qualified Financial Advisor QFA/APA (FLIA). He previously worked with Irish Life Assurance and Royal Liver Assurance. John has been an elected Councillor for Limerick since 2004, previously serving as Chairperson of Limerick County Council. He was also a former General Secretary and PRO of the Local Authority Members Association (LAMA). He is a current member of the Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board and sits on the Southern Regional Assembly.
