IPB Insurance marks centenary year through continued collaboration with Age Friendly Ireland

The 2026 National Age Friendly Recognition and Achievement Awards, sponsored by IPB Insurance, will take place on 8th October.

Age Friendly Ireland and IPB Insurance are continuing their longstanding partnership as preparations get underway for the 2026 National Age Friendly Recognition and Achievement Awards.

Taking place in Limerick on Thursday, 8 October, the Awards will celebrate the people, projects and organisations delivering practical improvements to the lives of older people in communities across Ireland.

This year’s partnership has particular significance as IPB Insurance marks 100 years supporting Ireland’s local government sector. As Ireland’s local government mutual insurer, IPB has a longstanding connection with the Local Authorities and communities at the heart of Age Friendly action across the country.

Now in their tenth year, the National Age Friendly Recognition and Achievement Awards showcase innovation across areas including housing, transport, healthy ageing, community participation, safety, accessibility and communication. They provide a national platform for successful local initiatives and encourage ideas that work to be shared and adapted by communities elsewhere.

IPB Insurance will also proudly sponsor the ‘Best Age Friendly Programme 2026’ category in the awards this year. This is a new category in the awards that will recognise one programme out of thirty-five for outstanding performance.  A prestigious honour.

Kieran Kehoe, Chief Executive, Meath County Council said: “Our partnership with IPB Insurance reflects a shared commitment to supporting strong, inclusive communities across Ireland. The Awards give us an important opportunity to recognise the local innovation making a real difference to older people’s everyday lives, while also sharing successful ideas so that other communities can learn from and build on what works.”

John Kearns, CEO of IPB Insurance, said: “As IPB celebrates 100 years working alongside Ireland’s local government sector, we are proud to continue our support for the National Age Friendly Recognition and Achievement Awards. The partnership is a natural fit for us, recognising the Local Authorities, organisations and communities developing practical solutions to local needs and helping create places where people can live well at every stage of life.”

Hosted by Limerick City and County Council, the 2026 National Age Friendly Recognition and Achievement Awards will take place at the Limerick Strand Hotel on Thursday, 8 October.
