IPB joins the conversation at Ireland’s 10th National Philanthropy Symposium

IPB was proud to be represented at the 10th Philanthropy Symposium, hosted by Philanthropy Ireland in the Concert Hall at the RDS on Thursday 15 October. This year’s theme was Leadership, Learning and Legacy. It brought together more than 130 philanthropists, foundations, advisers, policymakers and thought leaders to mark a decade of progress and look ahead to the future of strategic giving in Ireland.

Tom Keane, Head of Stakeholder Engagement and Corporate Social Engagement, took part in a fireside chat with Tim Murphy. Tim is a Board Member of Community Foundation Ireland and Chair of its Investment Committee. Their conversation covered stewardship, long-term philanthropic capital and the role business can play in building lasting public good.

Tom spoke about how IPB gives back through our CSE Fund. As a mutual with no external shareholders, IPB keeps its value within its Members and their communities. The CSE Fund is paid for from our investment returns, which keeps it separate from the cost of insuring our Members. Since 2012, IPB has committed €21 million to communities across Ireland.

Tom also explained our approach to funding. We work through long-term partnerships with trusted delivery partners and look for matched funding wherever we can, so that every euro goes further. Programmes such as the Late Night Leagues, Music Generation, the Social Enterprise Development Fund, the Local Environment Action Fund, Pride of Place and Age Friendly Ireland show how lasting commitment builds real capacity in communities.

Speakers on the day shared what they had learned about the power of partnerships, strategic giving and the purpose of wealth. Philanthropy Ireland said it hoped everyone would leave with one new insight, one useful connection and one action to take forward.

For IPB, the message was simple: in a mutual, giving back is built into how we work. Congratulations to Éilis Murray and the Philanthropy Ireland team on a milestone event.
