IPB was proud to support the Mary Robinson Climate and Nature Conference 2026, Food and Care: A Meitheal for Our Time, on 9-10 July, and to mark the occasion with the launch of our third Sustainability Strategy.

The conference theme of Meitheal reflects the power of people coming together to share knowledge, effort and care in pursuit of a common purpose. This principle is closely aligned with Article 29.1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which recognises that “everyone has duties to the community in which alone the free and full development of his personality is possible”.

As a mutual insurer, this belief is fundamental to who we are.  IPB exists to support organisations whose purpose is to serve communities, including Local Authorities, Education and Training Boards and community-based social enterprises that provide essential services and contribute to social wellbeing. By pooling resources, sharing risk and working collectively for the common good, mutuality enables communities and the organisations that support them to thrive.

Our Sustainability Strategy builds on these principles, recognising that addressing climate, nature and social challenges requires collaboration, shared responsibility and long-term thinking. Through partnership with our Members and stakeholders, we seek to strengthen resilience, create lasting value and support more sustainable and inclusive communities for generations to come.
